Dynamic, innovative, energetic, cutting-edge amazing are some of the words to describe Dr. William “Flip” Clay. Dr. Clay is a nationally acclaimed award-winning counselor and speaker. Dr. Clay has been featured on the Steve Harvey Morning Show (96.3 WHUR) with Mr. Tony Richards. In 2013, Dr. Clay contributed to the College Board Advocacy & Policy Center journal series “Transforming the Educational Experience of Young Men of Color Journal Series.” Dr. Clay is the author of The Diary of an Emotionally Constipated Man, Post Traumatic School Disorder “Empowerment Strategies for African American Males. and Dr. Clay was featured in the Amazon Best Seller There is No Health Without Mental Health Anthology: Men & Mental Health…Let’s Talk About It.Surviving his own Emotional Psychological Incarceration Dr. Clay has shared his life-changing inspirational story with individuals from all walks of life including youth, educators, pastors, men, women, college students, non-profits, athletes and more.
After meeting Dr. Clay, the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice of the United States, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, recognized Dr. Clay as an extraordinary role model and leader. In 2023, Dr. Clay was awarded Minority Educator of the Year for the State of Maryland. In addition, in 2023, Dr. Clay was awarded a National Life Group Life Changer of the Year Grand Prize Finalist Winner. Finally, in 2023 The Prince George’s County Board of Education recognized Dr. Clay with the County Unsung Hero Award. In 2011, Dr. Clay was recognized as the educator of the year by the Metropolitan Baltimore Association of Black School Educators. In 2012, The National Association of Black School Educators awarded Dr. Clay with the National Marcus Forster Distinguished Educator of the Year Award. A graduate of Charleston Job Corps, he holds an undergraduate degree from West Virginia State University and a graduate degree from Virginia State University. Dr. Clay is also a graduate of the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Washington D.C.
